Josh will also be helping with the improvement of the Functional Skills (Maths and English) to give our learners the extra helping step into employment

What Is your title now?
I have a blended role between Learner Engagement and Functional Skills Curriculum Officer.
What is your background?
After graduating with a degree in English Literature I completed the Teach First graduate scheme wherein I trained as a secondary school English teacher. I then taught for four years.
What does your new role entail?
As a Learner Engagement Officer, I am responsible for recruiting learners onto our LEAN courses.
As a Functional Skills Curriculum Officer, I am responsible for planning and then creating Pin Point’s functional skills curriculum for Maths and English. This will be delivered alongside our apprenticeship provision.
What are you looking forward to achieving in the future with Pin Point?
I am looking forward to creating a ‘bombproof’ curriculum for the Maths and English functional skills qualification. I want learners who found English and Maths difficult at school to be reengaged with these subjects and to see how they can be learnt simply, and applied constantly, in the workforce.
